Transport Sales & Service is a growing transportation company specializing in flatbed and bulk commodity transportation throughout Ontario and the United States. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our maintenance team as a General Maintenance Shop Helper.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping equipment clean and presentable, and is interested in learning more about the trucking and transportation industry.
Position Summary
The General Maintenance Shop Helper supports the Maintenance Department by assisting with the cleaning, washing, organization, and general upkeep of company equipment and facilities.
A primary responsibility of this role is the washing and detailing of tractors, trailers, and other transportation equipment to ensure our fleet maintains a professional appearance and is prepared for customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
Equipment Washing & Detailing
- Wash and clean tractors, trailers, and other fleet equipment.
- Perform interior and exterior cleaning of vehicles.
- Remove road debris, salt, mud, and other contaminants.
- Assist with vehicle detailing and presentation.
Shop & Yard Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop.
- Assist with housekeeping duties in the yard and maintenance areas.
- Remove scrap materials and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Maintain wash bay and cleaning equipment.
Maintenance Assistance
- Assist technicians with basic shop tasks.
- Move equipment within the yard as directed.
- Check and maintain fluid levels as assigned.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance activities.
- Perform general labour duties in support of the maintenance team.
Facility Maintenance
- General property maintenance.
- Snow removal assistance during winter months.
- Lawn and grounds maintenance as required.
- Assist with facility improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's licence preferred.
- Experience operating pressure washers and cleaning equipment is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset but not required.
