SUMMARY
As a Cook, your main duties are to produce high quality exceptional Food in a high-capacity kitchen environment to ensure all our products are available for as much of the day as possible. Kitchen gets tipped out equally!
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the following duties:
- sanitizes food preparation areas as determined by MAPAQ and company policy
- Is aware of kitchen safety procedure, and the location of all MAPAQ record forms
- Prepares foods to the specifications of the company and Head Chef
- Prepares food in a timely and efficient manner
- Portions, arranges, and garnishes food based on the Chef’s, and menu specifications
- Leads other cooks during the food assembly process/line service
- Assists with ordering, and sourcing
- Assists with menu expansion, and plate creation
- Supports with training
- Works efficiently and positively with other employees in the kitchen
- Supports in bakery as needed
- Acts as liaison to front-of-house employees to ensure a smooth and friendly line service, and communicates any delays or appropriate concerns
- Preps menu items and components in a timely and efficient manner
- Stores and labels all food items correctly and safely according to MAPAQ standards
- Correctly seasons prep and menu items according to recipe specifications
- Knowledge to operate various kitchen appliances such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
- Provides feedback in regards new recipes and procedure
- Adheres to company policy and procedure
- Helps wash dishes if needed
- *Other duties and special projects may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Culinary/Pastry Diploma is an asset
- Food Safe
- 1-year similar experience
Soft Skills:
- VERY passionate about coffee and food
- Knowledge of specialty coffee, coffee and food trends and café operations
- Attention to detail, able to present digestible information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Interest and desire to work in the specialty coffee industry
- Ability to build strong internal working relationships and be an effective communicator
- Have a “no job is too small” mentality: you roll up your sleeves, boldly jump in and get it done!

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.75 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
