Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments to diagnose and treat visual problems and ocular diseases
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids as necessary
- Provide specialized care for patients with specific needs such as senior care, pediatric care, or optical care
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to manage patients' overall health and well-being
- Utilize electronic medical record systems such as Epic to document patient information accurately
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and preventive measures
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry and attend continuing education courses
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry
- Excellent clinical skills and ability to provide accurate diagnoses
- Proficient in conducting various eye examinations and assessments
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including seniors, children, and individuals with specific optical needs
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
