We are seeking an experienced and responsible AZ Driver to join our division located in Belleville. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting solid non-hazardous waste materials in walking floor trailers to landfill sites.
Responsibilities:
· Operate and drive tractor-trailer to transport goods and materials over long distances.
· Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with all applicable Acts and regulations.
· Coordinate with office staff, management, and supervisors on a frequent basis to ensure all the necessary material and supplies are considered.
· Ensure Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections are completed correctly and daily ensuring safety and roadworthiness. Check vehicles before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
· Communicate with dispatch on a regular basis to ensure delivery is completed.
· Comply with applicable federal and provincial legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, and weights and dimensions.
· Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct, and any loading equipment is properly positioned.
· Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
· Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
· Communicate effectively with the public, customers, supervisors and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
· Ensure the appropriate PPE is worn as all times.
· Assist with training of new drivers and other duties as assigned.
· Required to haul outbound shipments within Ontario.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a truck driver.
Valid AZ license and Driver’s Abstract in good standing
Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
This will be year-round work in all weather conditions.
