Our specialized, small-classroom environment is designed to foster academic, social, and developmental growth. With low teacher-to-student ratios (ranging from 1:3 to 1:12), we provide the individualized attention necessary to build student confidence and success. As a school committed to specialized learning, we integrate Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles throughout our curriculum.
We are seeking a motivated and energetic OCT Certified, Junior/Intermediate Teacher to join our team. Reporting to the Principal, you will play a vital role in delivering a supportive and enriching school experience. You will be responsible for designing and implementing effective lesson plans and engaging learning opportunities—both within the classroom and through extracurricular activities such as field trips, Daily Physical Activity (DPA), and weekly swimming programs.
POSITION STATUS: Full-time (10 month contract)
SALARY: $44,370 - $63,985/per year (based on experience)
EXPECTED START DATE: August 31, 2026
CONTRACT END DATE: June 25, 2027 (possibility to renew for the following school year)
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday ; 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Perform ongoing assessment and evaluation of student performance and progress.
- Complete progress reports and report cards that follow Ministry of Education guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the academic, physical, social/emotional needs of exceptional students.
- Apply well-developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Follow behavior management guidelines outlined by Senior Therapists.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and extra training if needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism, honesty, and respect at all times.
- Manage challenging behaviors calmly and effectively.
- Demonstrate understanding of students with diverse academic and behavioral needs.
- Maintain functional computer literacy for school-related documentation.
- Participate in swimming activities, support students with transitions, and engage in activities such as field trips.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Education (minimum)
- Certification: Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT – in good standing) – or equivalent from another province.
- Training: Additional Qualifications and Training in Special Education (asset).
- Curriculum: Knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum.
- Safety: Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate; Crisis Prevention Training program by the Safe Management Group taught in house.
- Checks: Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Police Screening.
- Skills: Computer literacy; Excellent English language verbal and written skills.
- Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of Applied Behavioural Analysis principles (asset); Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder/special needs (asset);
Recommendation:
- Completion of FREE 40-hour online RBT training (Registered Behaviour Technician) prior to the first day of school.
