JOB DESCRIPTION: The E-Learning and Training Developer advances mental health education through the design, development, and continuous improvement of training programs. This role is responsible for creating high-quality facilitator-led and e-learning experiences that promote consistency, accessibility, and engagement. Developing e-learning courses for organization initiatives, Thrive Learning Centre and core training modules. The training developer will create facilitator guidebooks to accompany the core modules. Working collaboratively with internal teams, the developer ensures that all learning materials reflect best practices in adult education and align with the organization's mission to promote mental health and support recovery.
35 hours per week, within the core hours of work of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. This is an eight-week summer position, June 15-August 7, 2026. As per Canada Summer Jobs, applicants must be aged 15-30 at the start of employment, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitator Training Material Development
- Develop comprehensive facilitator manuals to support consistent and effective delivery of core training programs
- Create clear and structured guides that include learning objectives, session plans, instructional activities, and evaluation tools
E-Learning Design and Development
- Convert instructor-led training content into interactive e-learning modules using authoring tools such as Udutu or Articulate
- Design engaging, user-friendly digital learning experiences that follow instructional design best practices
- Test, evaluate, and refine e-learning courses to ensure functionality, accessibility, and cross-platform compatibility
Research and Content Development
- Conduct research to identify emerging trends, learner needs, and industry best practices
- Develop new training materials, modules, and supporting resources for learning programs and LMS platforms
- Continuously update and improve existing content to maintain relevance and effectiveness
Training Facilitation and Delivery
- Facilitate and deliver training programs to diverse audiences, including community members, service providers, and partners.
- Apply effective facilitation techniques to foster engagement, participation, and knowledge transfer.
- Adapt delivery approaches to meet the needs of different groups, including virtual and in-person settings.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback to continuously improve delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Post-secondary education in education, instructional design, adult education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Experience in training development, facilitation, or e-learning design, preferably within the mental health, non-profit, or community services sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing facilitator guides and digital learning modules.
- Familiarity with mental health promotion, recovery-oriented practice, and community-based services is considered an asset.
- Experience working with learning management systems and online course delivery.

- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Ability to translate complex mental health concepts into accessible, engaging learning materials.
- Proficiency in e-learning development tools such as Articulate or Udutu and familiarity with LMS platforms.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 35 hours per week, within the core hours of work from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with some flexibility as outlined in the Flexible Work Arrangements Policy. This is an eight-week summer position, June 15-August 7, 2026 (Canada Summer Jobs).
This position requires a combination of working in a home office environment and in community with our stakeholders. We offer a workplace culture committed to personal wellbeing and psychological safety.
A valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required. Reimbursement will be paid at a per/kilometre rate.
EQUIPMENT: The employer will provide necessary office equipment as outlined in the Working from Home policy for the employee’s use while employed. The employee is required to have reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated working space.
COMPENSATION: $25 per hour
Pay: $25.00 per hour
