We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Structural Engineer - EIT to join our innovative engineering team, ideally an engineering graduate working as an EIT currently working towards their PEng in Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to system design, manufacturing processes, and product development within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, CAD software / SolidWorks, and system integration, with a focus on structural analysis and mechanical design, and custom fabrication of heavy industrial projects for the resources sector.
Duties
- Assist in the design and analysis of mechanical steel structures and heavy equipment using CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Develop detailed schematics and technical drawings for manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes
- Conduct simulations and modeling using MATLAB to optimize mechanical components and systems
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical and control components
- Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, assembly instructions, and testing procedures
- Participate in prototype testing, data collection, and analysis to validate design performance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing processes and product quality
Skills
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, registered or eligible to register as Engineer in Training with Professional Engineers of Ontario (working already towards PEng is ideal). Minimum of 3 years experience as EIT in Ontario working towards PEng.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, and general drafting techniques
- Experience with schematic development for mechanical, structural, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of MATLAB, LabVIEW, CNC programming, and system design principles
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation controls is an asset
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in complex custom project environments
- Effective communication skills for collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, custom fabrication / manufacturing of projects, and clients.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers within the engineering group.
