Who We are Looking for
We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, even if you do not meet every qualification listed below.
We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Machinist who takes pride in precision and craftsmanship. This role is ideal for someone comfortable working in a fabrication and prototype environment, who can balance multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of quality.
You will play a critical role in producing specialized components that directly impact the performance of our systems. This position requires both technical expertise and a proactive mindset — someone who is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams.
What Will You Do
Working closely with the machining and production team, you will contribute to the fabrication of high-precision components used in our cryogenic systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes (3- and 4-axis)
- Machining prototype and short-run production parts to tight tolerances
- Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate components
- Collaborating with engineering on design considerations, materials, and manufacturability
- Communicating with purchasing to support material procurement and project timelines
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
- Performing routine maintenance and supporting preventative maintenance of equipment
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Documenting work and communicating performance, challenges, and efficiencies to leadership
- Supporting team objectives and stepping in where needed in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience / Technical Skills
We are most interested in candidates with strong machining fundamentals and a detail-oriented mindset:
- 3–5+ years of experience operating CNC mills and lathes
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or prototype shop environments
- Ability to program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot machining processes
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience working with tight tolerances and high-precision components
- Strong problem-solving skills with a cost-conscious approach to machining
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet production deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
Nice to Have / Considered an Asset
- Journeyman Machinist (Red Seal) or equivalent certification
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or Mastercam
- Experience working with specialized materials or complex geometries
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google-based tools
- Experience supporting process development or continuous improvement initiatives
What Will You Bring
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality components
- Curiosity and willingness to learn in a deep-tech environment
- Flexibility and adaptability in a growing, evolving organization
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team success
- Pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
