About the Role
The successful candidate will provide community-based occupational therapy services throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Services may be delivered in clients’ homes, workplaces, community settings, and other environments relevant to rehabilitation and functional goals.
This role is primarily community-based, however there may also be opportunities to provide services within a clinic setting as the organization expands.
As part of a salaried, integrated clinical team, the Occupational Therapist will also be expected to provide coverage for staff absences, including maternity leave and vacation coverage, to ensure continuity of care for clients.
You will have the opportunity to work with individuals experiencing:
- Orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries.
- Motor vehicle accident-related injuries.
- Concussion and mild traumatic brain injury.
- Chronic pain conditions.
- Mental health challenges.
- Functional limitations impacting daily activities.
- Return-to-work and vocational rehabilitation needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation interventions.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and compensatory strategies.
- Facilitate return-to-work and functional rehabilitation planning.
- Educate clients, families, employers, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation professionals, insurers, legal representatives, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare professional reports, documentation, and recommendations.
- Support clients in achieving meaningful functional, vocational, and community participation goals.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be registered and in good standing to practice Occupational Therapy in British Columbia through the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia CHCPBC.
- Hold a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
- Have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Be willing and able to travel throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley areas.
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Be capable of working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Community rehabilitation.
- Concussion management.
- Chronic pain rehabilitation.
- Mental health.
- Return-to-work services.
- Disability management.
- Physical rehabilitation.
- Functional capacity evaluation.
- Vocational rehabilitation.
