Position: Accounts Payable Clerk @ Shop Makers
Hours: 36 hours/week (half day Fridays year round!)
Salary: $45,000-$50,000 + bonus
Hybrid: Requirement to work 2 days/week from our Mount Pleasant, Vancouver office

Why This Role Matters
The Accounts Payable Clerk is a key member of our finance team, working closely alongside our Senior Accountant to keep our books accurate, our vendors paid on time, and our financial systems running smoothly across a growing multi-location business. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who thrives on accuracy, loves complexity, and wants to grow with a company that's doing something meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Process and manage accounts payable, ensuring vendors and suppliers are paid accurately and on time
- Code and categorize invoices and receipts using Dext
- Categorize and reconcile expenses in Float, ensuring proper allocation across departments and locations
- Flag discrepancies and work with the Senior Accountant to resolve them
Data Entry & Transaction Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Enter and categorize transactions, ensuring consistency and accuracy across Canadian and US books
Account Reconciliation
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations in QBO
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Month-End & Cross-Border Support
- Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end close processes, including preparing supporting schedules and reconciliations
Skills and Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable or Bookkeeping role
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) preferred
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Experience with or willingness to learn Float and Dext
- Solid understanding of Canadian GST/HST sales tax concepts
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small finance team
- Clear and effective communication skills
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is a plus
- Experience in retail, membership-based, or multi-location businesses is a plus
- Cross-border (Canada/US) accounting experience is a strong asset but not required
- Familiarity with US payroll processing and US sales tax compliance is a strong asset but not required
