Purpose
A CNC Operator is responsible for maintaining and operating CNC machines, along with all the associated tables and work areas. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of production processes within the designated area. The primary objective is to uphold smooth and safe production procedures, maximize operational efficiency and maintain a clean, well-organized workspace.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
- Complete and assist in safety inspections as required.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Complete forms and tasks as required every shift.
Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Adhere to maintenance schedules and complete forms.
- Adhere to housekeeping schedules and complete forms.
- Know and perform maintenance tasks with precision.
Production Operations
- Safely load and unload parts on the CNC machines, following procedures to meet daily production targets.
- Create simple processes by manually digitizing when required.
- Know edge profile names, specifications and dimensions for corners and returns.
- Monitor tooling to maintain edge quality; replace tools when necessary and update the tool library accurately.
- Remove and clean tools and cones; install new tools properly.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of material types, colors and characteristics to optimize production and minimize remakes.
- Keep tray areas clean and organized, wash trays before reloading.
- Assist in production as necessary
Qualifications
Education
- Preferred high school graduate with some related post-secondary education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read a tape measure, use calipers and understand both metric and imperial systems.
- Basic computer skills for logging records and accessing documentation.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License is preferred
- Fair mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read drawings, schematics and manuals.
- Understand the production process and efficient resource management.
Personal Characteristics
- Possess solid teamwork and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and improve.
- Physical Stamina and strength, ability to lift 55lbs repeatedly.
Professional Certification
Experience
- None required but production experience, especially with machinery is preferred.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
