Alberta Health Services (AHS) is now seeking such a person for the role of Diagnostic Sonographer I at the new, state-of-the-art Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, which opened in 2021. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place of an annual maximum of $3,000. Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise with physicians, nurses, allied health staff, and other hospital departments. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Evidence of effective decision making and collaboration working with others in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Both General and Echocardiography Certification preferred. Experience with contrast enhancing agents and performing invasive procedures. Familiarity with Connect Care or other electronic health record systems. Previous experience in a Regional Hospital setting.
