Job Summary
The Landscape Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of landscape maintenance crews. This role ensures the highest standards of quality and efficiency in landscape upkeep, client satisfaction, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Supervision
- Manage and lead landscape maintenance crews, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Assign tasks and oversee completion of daily work schedules.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards.
Operations Management
- Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks, including mowing, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.
- Monitor project progress to meet deadlines, quality standards, and budget requirements.
- Conduct routine site inspections and identify areas for improvement.
Client Interaction
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly.
- Provide recommendations for property enhancements and landscape improvements.
Equipment and Inventory
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensure proper use and storage to prolong equipment lifespan.
Snow Removal
- Safely and efficiently remove snow and ice from driveways, sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways.
- Operate snow removal equipment such as trucks, plows, skid steers, tractors, snow blowers, and spreaders.
- Apply salt, sand, or other de-icing materials as directed.
- Follow assigned routes and complete work in a timely manner.
- Report equipment damage, unsafe conditions, or site hazards.
- Perform basic equipment checks and minor maintenance.
- Work safely in extreme weather conditions and comply with company safety policies.
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, employee schedules, and site conditions.
- Submit reports on crew performance, project status, and expenses.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with Salisbury’s Health and Safety Program and company policies.
- Enforce use of protective gear and safe work practices.
Qualifications
- Background in horticulture or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance and crew supervision.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping practices, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscaping plans and specifications.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract, and 3 years of personal insurance is required.
- Previous snow removal or outdoor labour experience an asset.
- Dependable, punctual, and available on-call during snow events.
- Strong work ethic with ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
