Our client is a global leader in corrosion-resistant brick and membrane lining solutions for industrial vessels and requires a permanent, direct hire
Divisional Controller based at their headquarters in Ottawa. Serving industries like pulp and paper and mining, they engineer and install high-performance systems that stand up to the toughest conditions.
As a key member of the leadership team, reporting to the International Controller, the
Divisional Controller is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting and financial reporting, strengthening and enforcing internal controls and processes, budgeting, forecasting, project costing and financial analysis for the Canadian division of a 150-year-old, international specialized construction company.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage day-to-day responsibilities of the Canadian based accounting team.

Prepare monthly and year-end closings in a timely manner and ensure completeness and accuracy of balance sheet, Income Statement and cashflow statements.

Review and perform income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations, job cost analysis and work in progress calculations.

Prepare and review complex accounting entries.

Review and approve work completed by direct reports.

Ensure compliance with a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and internal controls and adherence with all compliance obligations.

Direct to completion, compliance and audits throughout the year.

Hire, onboard, and train team members.

Coach, monitor and appraise job results of direct reports, focusing on process efficiency and effectiveness.

As required, liaise with external accountants, auditors, union officials and bankers.

Maintain a proactive approach to process efficiency and improvements.

Responsiveness to corporate accounting management.

Other tasks as assigned by corporate accounting management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent education.

Accounting Designation preferred.

Demonstrated successful experience in managing the month-end and year-end closes.

Experience working in a manufacturing or construction setting requiring project cost accounting, work in progress calculations and inventory management.

Working experience within a unionized payroll environment is a strong asset.

Strong organizational & time management abilities.

Strong analytical skills and very detail-oriented.

Proven ability to hire, lead and train staff

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Team player with ability to multi-task, proactively solve problems, prioritize, delegate and meet time-critical deadlines

5+ years full cycle accounting experience at a senior level

Strong computer skills with demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset
Work Location: In Person
Pay:
$125,000 - $145,000
