Overview
We are seeking a life enrichment aid who will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents in a memory care setting. This position focuses on planning, facilitating, and assisting with activities that promote physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual engagement for people living with memory impairments. A life enrichment aid works closely with residents, their families, and the care team to create a supportive and stimulating environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute programs.
- Evaluates recreation and wellness programs.
- Understands and responds to individual activity needs and preferences in a positive and respectful manner.
- Willingness to make meaningful connections with residents.
- Assist residents to and from programs.
- Organize supplies and equipment as needed.
- Assist in serving meals (Example: bring plates to and from kitchen, clean tables, pour coffees, juice, etc.)
- Facilitate communication with residents' families.
- Monitor residents’ health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
Requirements
- Mandatory experience or training in retirement homes, preferably memory care.
- Preferred post-secondary education or certificate in recreational therapy or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Patience, empathy and creativity in engaging with individuals
- Police/background test
- TB test
