Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to oversee and enhance safety protocols across projects. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and reducing workplace hazards. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of construction/industrial teams while supporting project success through effective safety management and consultancy.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures tailored to construction sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinate safety training sessions for new and existing staff, emphasizing best practices and hazard awareness.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and workers to foster a safety-conscious environment.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation using construction management software for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Stay current with industry safety regulations and incorporate updates into company policies accordingly.
- Assist in emergency response planning and ensure all team members are familiar with safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience in safety management or related roles within the construction industry is a REQUIREMENT
- At least 2-3 years of proven experience as a health and safety professional.
- Familiarity with construction management software for tracking safety metrics and documentation.
- Strong understanding of OHSA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and coordinate with diverse teams.
- Ability to identify potential hazards proactively and implement preventive measures.
- Construction background or hands-on experience is highly desirable.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently. This position is integral to maintaining a safe work environment on all construction sites, ensuring compliance, reducing risks, and fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.
