Acton Academy, founded in 2009, is a private micro-school system where our learners run the school. We guide our learners to navigate independent and collaborative challenges, learning in the success and failure of experience.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a passion for guiding young people to accomplish incredible things.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision to learners between the ages of three and sixteen
- Follow the instructions of the team to provide coverage in areas needed during the day and cover class duties
- Be available to take calls in the morning on potential jobs and arrive on short-notice
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor of Education or equivalent
- Experience supporting young people, such as in teaching, coaching, camp counseling, early childhood education, educational assistance, or relevant post-secondary education
- A background and/or experience in an Alternative and/or Montessori classroom an asset
- Experience in small business and/or business ventures an asset
- Proficiency in French an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR C First Aid required

- Comfort and experience working with young people
- Ability and comfort in providing clear safety guardrails while allowing for independent risk assessment
Availability
- Teaching coverage is 8am to 3:30pm
- Aftercare coverage is 3pm to 5:30pm
