Sault College is seeking skilled trades professionals to teach on a part-time basis within our Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and General Machinist apprenticeship programs.
We are building a pool of instructors who can support training across different levels and courses throughout the academic year.
If you’re experienced in your trade and interested in sharing that knowledge, this is an opportunity to step into teaching in a flexible, part-time capacity.
What You'll Teach
Instruction may take place across one of more areas, depending on your background:
General Machinist
- Trade math, measurement, and metrology
- Engineering drawings and tolerances
- Manual machining (lathe, milling, drilling, grinding)
- CNC fundamentals and machining processes
Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
- Mechanical systems, components, and maintenance practices
- Rigging, hoisting, and installation
- Welding and fabrication fundamentals
- Equipment setup, alignment, and troubleshooting
Courses combine theory with hands-on instruction, aligned with Skilled Trades Ontario curriculum standards.
What We're looking For
We are seeking individuals who:
- Hold a Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in:
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright – 433A) or
- General Machinist (429A)
- Have several years of hands-on industry experience
- Take pride in their work and want to pass that standard on
- Can explain concepts clearly – not just perform the work
- Value safety, consistency, and professionalism
Instruction will be assigned based on your area of expertise within Millwright or General Machinist.
Previous teaching or mentoring experience is an asset but not required.
What You'll Do
- Deliver course content in classroom and shop environments
- Demonstrate tools, equipment, and procedures safely
- Support apprentices in developing both knowledge and practical skills
- Evaluate student progress through assignments and practical work
- Reinforce industry expectations around safety and quality

Many of our instructors teach a single course or block at a time, depending on availability.

This is a part-time instructor position, $61.01/hour - $115.13/hour.
