CNC Milling Programmer (Mastercam)
The CNC Milling Programmer is responsible for programming, setup support, and optimization of CNC machining operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality. This role requires strong experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis vertical HAAS machining centers using Mastercam.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC milling programs using Mastercam to maximize production efficiency, accuracy, and tool life.
- Support machine setup, process validation, and troubleshooting alongside setup operators.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications.
- Develop machining strategies, tooling concepts, and fixture designs.
- Create setup sheets, tooling documentation, and work instructions
- Verify machined components using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Collaborate with Quality to ensure parts meet all specifications and standards.
- Provide training and technical guidance to operators and setup personnel.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues to minimize downtime.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
- Provide regular progress updates to management.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company safety policies.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of CAD/CAM programming experience in a precision machining environment.
- Proven experience programming and machining 5-axis CNC milling equipment.
- Advanced proficiency with Mastercam (2025 or newer preferred).
- Strong understanding of 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling operations.
- Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC controllers.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience with fixture design, workholding, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
- Familiarity with a wide range of materials (steel, stainless, aluminum, plastics, exotic alloys).
- Experience creating setup sheets, work instructions, and inspection documentation.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Strong problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
Preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience with NCRs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- College diploma, degree, or CNC certification.
