Vacancy Status : Existing position
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Strategy, the Social Media Coordinator contributes to Laurentian University’s social media strategy and day-to-day operations on a variety of platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for creating, curating, and publishing content across our social media channels to support student recruitment and retention. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for managing social ad campaigns, engaging directly with our online communities, providing training, and reporting on key performance metrics. This role will require occasional work outside of regular business hours including some evenings and weekends.
- Creates, curates, and publishes social media content including video, images, and creative copy.
- Appears on-camera in video and photos to create content for social media and the web.
- Operate camera and related equipment to capture photos and video footage.
- Creates and maintains a social media content calendar with input from stakeholders.
- Regularly updates Laurentian University’s primary social media profiles.
- Provides guidance and training to stakeholders across campus on social media platform best practices.
- Supports creation of ad content and configuration for social ad campaigns.
- Generates reports on key metrics for organic and paid social content.
- Responds to social media comments and direct messages.
- Captures and shares media assets from live events.
- Fosters, supports, and grows the Laurentian social media coordinator community.
- Occasionally work outside of regular business hours including some evenings and weekends.
- Occasionally guide work study students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- College Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Multimedia Production, or other related fields is preferred.
- One (1) year of experience successfully managing one or more social media accounts.
- Two (2) years of experience using various multimedia design tools (i.e., Canva, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
- Knowledge of multiple social media platforms.
- Proficient in image and video editing.
- Ability to operate a DSLR camera for photos and videos or willing to learn.
- Knowledge of creation and management of digital ad campaigns or willing to learn.
- Suitable knowledge of online marketing strategies and tactics.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of creativity.
- Comfortable working with analytical tools and data or willing to learn.
- Possess ability and willingness to learn new skills and software tools.
- Knowledge of the university community and the student lifecycle would be an asset.
- Comfortable being on camera is considered an asset.
- Ability to work fluently, verbal and written, in both official languages, French and English is an asset.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
