Bright Beginnings Educare is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and collaborative Child
Care Inclusion Worker to support a child with cerebral palsy within our inclusive early
learning program. This position is funded through Manitoba’s Inclusion Support Program
and is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping every child thrive in a play-based
learning environment.
Working alongside our educators, families, and community professionals, you will help
create an environment where every child experiences a sense of belonging, participation,
and success.
About the Role
The Inclusion Worker supports the implementation of individualized strategies that
promote the child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and communication
development while encouraging independence and meaningful participation in all daily
routines and activities.
This position is collaborative in nature and works as part of the classroom team and roles
are shared with other staff in the room. The successful candidate will assist with
implementing recommendations from therapists and other professionals while supporting
all educators in providing high-quality inclusive care. Responsibilities
- Support the child to actively participate in all aspects of the daily program, including indoor and outdoor play, and group experiences.
- Assist with safe positioning, mobility, transfers, and the use of adaptive equipment following recommendations from therapists and families.
- Providing appropriate physical support. Adapt activities and learning materials to meet the child’s strengths, interests, and development needs
- GI feeding and administration of medications thru GI tube
- Experience with seizures and following URIS plan procedures is an asset
- Support the use of communication strategies and assistive technology, when applicable.
- Work collaboratively with Early Childhood Educators to implement Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals.
- Maintain respectful, positive relationships with families and participate in meetings as required.
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and Inclusion Support Program professionals.
- Promote an inclusive classroom where all children learn and play together.
Qualifications
- Child Care Assistant (CCA) classification recognized by the Province of Manitoba, or willingness to obtain or Medical Aid certificate and willing to obtain a CCA classification
- Experience supporting children with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, or additional support needs and GI tube feeding is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and inclusive early learning practices.
- Experience working with adaptive equipment, mobility supports, is considered an asset or willing to learn
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, position, and support children safely using proper body mechanics.
- Ability to maintain consistency with policies, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism and reliability
