Logistics Assistant
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Assistant to support our supply chain operations. This role is essential in coordinating warehouse distribution, transportation management, and order fulfillment processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with warehouse management systems, procurement, and process improvement initiatives to enhance overall efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic logistics environment, utilizing ERP systems such as AS400 and other supply chain tools to ensure seamless operations across shipping, receiving, and materials management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with warehouse distribution activities, including order picking, packaging, and inventory management.
- Support procurement processes by sourcing materials and managing supplier relationships.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track shipments and optimize freight routes.
- Coordinate shipping & receiving operations, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery.
- Analyze data related to demand planning, pricing, and order fulfillment to identify process improvements.
- Manage materials using CMMS and ERP systems like AS400 to maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers for freight forwarding and logistics solutions.
- Support e-commerce order processing, including packaging and order fulfillment.
- Operate forklifts and assist with warehouse materials handling as needed.
- Contribute to sourcing initiatives by evaluating suppliers and negotiating pricing strategies.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards during all warehouse activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, supply chain management, or logistics roles.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms (such as AS400 or similar), and procurement tools.
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), freight coordination, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Strong data analysis skills to support demand planning, pricing strategies, and process improvements.
- Experience with CMMS software and materials management practices.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; forklift certification preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and order processing.
- Prior experience in sourcing, procurement, or e-commerce logistics is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
