Role Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Human Resources practices and processes. This role will assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. The HR Generalist will provide support in various HR functions including administration, employee relations, performance management, training and development, onboarding, total rewards and compliance management.
Responsibilities:
Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records and files
- Track and report on employee data, such as sick days, vacation days, banked overtime, and hours worked, to ensure that accurate and timely information can be made available to management and staff.
- Assist with all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests
- Produce and submit reports on general HR activity including Dayforce, exit interviews, trends etc
- Liaise with external parties to support employees (i.e., providers of benefits, GRSP, and health services).
- Provide front-line and administrative support for the rewards and recognition platform.
- Support with updates and design of the OmniaBio Hub and HR pages
Employee Onboarding
- Maintain and continuously improve upon the onboarding process including onboarding initiation with the hiring manager, welcome emails, file creation (Dayforce/SharePoint), and new employee orientation/training
- Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization
- Support the TA team with offer letters and ERF’s
Employee Relations
- Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, providing guidance on policies and procedures
- Act as a business partner to the Supervisory level, supporting with performance management and employee challenges.
Performance Management
- Assist in the performance appraisal process, helping new people leaders set up goals and providing support for employee development plans
Training and Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate with the HR Director to build/source tools and resource to meet the needs
- Look for ways to enhance employee skills and knowledge
- Administration of SkillSoft and leverage the tool to build out programs to support training needs
- Act as a key member of the Mentorship Program
Compliance/Policies
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices
Total Rewards
- Responsible for adding employees to Dayforce
- Administer the benefits, including setting up new hires with benefits, and making administrative changes.
- Administer the group retirement savings plan (GRSP) in conjunction with the provider.
- Manages the Job Evaluation Process for OmniaBio/LineaBio including updating JD’s, managing the JD databased, and all other necessary updates
- Build and maintain a calendar of HR events related to health and wellness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience as an HR Coordinator or similar role.
- Working toward the Certified Human Resources Professional designation is an asset.
- Strong understanding of Canadian labour laws and HR best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Smartsheet an asset
