Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Site Superintendent to oversee field operations for custom residential cottage builds in Northwestern Ontario and various projects in the Winnipeg area.
Based out of Winnipeg, you will manage day-to-day site execution, coordinate trade contractors, enforce quality control, and ensure projects stay on schedule and budget. This position requires regular travel to site locations in Northwestern Ontario (e.g., Kenora / Lake of the Woods region), including short-term overnight stays during key construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management: Lead daily operations on site from excavation to final handoff, maintaining quality and structural integrity.
- Subcontractor & Crew Coordination: Schedule and supervise sub-trades, suppliers, and internal crews to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Travel & Remote Oversight: Travel to and manage project sites in Northwestern Ontario, staying overnight as required by project schedules.
- Quality Control & Standards: Ensure all work complies with regional building codes (Manitoba/Ontario), project drawings, and specifications.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce workplace safety policies, provincial OH&S regulations, and maintain safe, clean job sites.
- Client & Management Communication: Provide regular site progress updates, photos, and report potential risks or delays to project management.
- Material & Inventory Control: Coordinate deliveries, track material usage, and inspect materials upon arrival to prevent delays.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent in residential, custom home, or cottage construction. (Experience with light commercial is an asset).
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work in Northwestern Ontario with periodic overnight stays.
- Building Code Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the National Building Code, Manitoba Building Code, and/or Ontario Building Code.
- Valid Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and structural plans.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills when dealing with sub-trades, inspectors, and clients.
