Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Automotive Technician Apprentice to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in the automotive industry and looking to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of licensed Automotive Service Technicians. The successful candidate will assist with vehicle inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs while developing the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified Automotive Service Technician.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining passenger vehicles, light trucks, and SUVs.
- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, tire rotations, wheel balancing, brake inspections, battery testing, and fluid replacements.
- Assist with vehicle inspections and identify maintenance or repair requirements.
- Learn to use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues.
- Perform basic repairs and component replacements under supervision.
- Safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, hoists, and tire service equipment.
- Read and interpret repair orders, service manuals, technical bulletins, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Assist in documenting repair procedures and maintaining accurate service records.
- Participate in apprenticeship training and continuously develop technical knowledge and skills.
- Support team members with shop operations and other duties as assigned.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with clients.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Automotive Service Technician Apprentice or willingness to register in an apprenticeship program.
- Previous automotive repair experience through employment, co-op placement, vocational training, or personal projects is considered an asset.
- Completion of, or enrollment in, an automotive service technician program from a recognized college or trade school is preferred.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems including brakes, suspension, steering, engines, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have either:
- Prior experience in the automotive repair industry; or
- Educational training related to automotive service, automotive technology, or automotive repair.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
