KWS Keys Welding Service Ltd., a division of the STC Industrial Group of Companies, is a First Nations owned welding and fabrication shop delivering safe, competitive, quality services to our clients, and engagement and growth to Indigenous communities and people.
The Senior Project Manager manages the production picture at Keys Welding Service and leads the project management team. The Senior Project Manager manages the live view of where every project sits, what is coming, and what is moving through the shop, and uses that view to keep production balanced, the team developing, and the work on track.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Manages the live status of all active projects, knowing where each one sits, what is coming, and what is moving through the shop. This is the core of the role, and everything else runs off it.
· Manages the bid list. Monitors the bid inboxes daily, reviews incoming bids, and assigns them out. Makes the bid or no-bid call early in the available window rather than at the deadline, so clients and the team have room to work.
· Manages and maintains the production schedule, keeping it accurate and current as project managers input their work.
· Facilitates the weekly production meeting and the midweek production huddles.
· Manages project decisions and backs them with data and sound operational reasoning.
· Keeps project files current and in the company structure, so any team member can step in and run the work.
· Communicates openly, keeps the team and stakeholders informed, and carries decisions to the team clearly while supporting them in execution.
· Understands the quality requirements of each project well enough to bid and run it accurately, flags quality decisions to the client when needed, and manages scope so the work meets the requirement without over-building. Works with the Quality Manager as the authority on codes and standards.
· Handles project administration, including change orders, vendor invoice approvals, work in progress updates, and vacation sign-offs for the team.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
· Five years of project management experience, preferably in the steel or industrial fabrication industry.
· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
· Proven ability to lead a team and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong project management experience in welding, fabrication, steel, or industrial projects.
· Strong ability to interpret structural and shop drawings.
· Skilled in budgeting, resource planning, and estimating project costs.
