Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician (Plumbing)
Status: Permanent, year-round position. (This position consists of 30 hours per week in accordance with an approved Averaging Agreement. Typical schedule consists of 3x 10-hour shifts per week, with flexibility required based on seasonal and operational needs)
Reports to: Building Maintenance Supervisor
Wage: $25.00-$39.00 (based on experience and/or ticket)
Mount Washington Alpine Resort is seeking a skilled and reliable Building Maintenance Technician with a strong plumbing background to join our Facilities team. This hands-on role supports the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of resort lodges, accommodations, staff housing, and guest facilities across the mountain.
The ideal candidate brings experience in plumbing systems, HVAC systems preventative maintenance, and general building repairs, along with a practical, solution-focused approach to troubleshooting a wide variety of maintenance issues. In addition to plumbing work, this role supports HVAC systems, appliance repairs, carpentry projects, bathroom maintenance, and seasonal facility setup and teardown.
Working in a fast-paced mountain resort environment, the Building Maintenance Technician plays an important role in helping create safe, comfortable, and well-maintained spaces for both guests and staff year-round. This position requires someone who is adaptable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Role Responsibilities:

Perform plumbing repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting across resort facilities, staff housing, and guest spaces

Support HVAC systems, general building maintenance, and seasonal upkeep projects throughout the Resort.

Troubleshoot and repair kitchen appliances, fixtures, and building equipment to help keep operations running smoothly.

Complete bathroom repairs, basic carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks as needed.

Assist with winter and summer setup/teardown projects, including heavy lifting and manual labour in a fast-paced mountain environment.

Respond to maintenance calls, urgent repairs, and emergency situations in a timely and professional manner.

Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces while ensuring tools, equipment, and maintenance areas are properly cared for.

Work collaboratively with other departments to support day-to-day resort operations and create a positive guest and staff experience.

Follow all company policies, WorkSafeBC regulations, safe work procedures, and WHMIS requirements.

Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture by bringing a flexible attitude and willingness to jump in where needed.

Effectively manage time, prioritize workloads, and recognize the difference between urgent repairs, routine maintenance, and projects that can be scheduled for a later date.

Work collaboratively with other departments and be willing to jump in where needed to support day-to-day resort operations and create a positive guest and staff experience.

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Directors.
Qualifications:

Previous plumbing experience or Journeyman certification is considered a strong asset.

Minimum 3 years of related maintenance or building operations experience, preferably in a commercial, hospitality, or resort environment.

General working knowledge of plumbing systems, HVAC equipment, appliances, and overall building maintenance practices.

Experience with carpentry, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.

A Red-Seal ticket in Carpentry or Plumbing considered a strong asset

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing operational priorities.

Ability to effectively manage time, stay organized, and balance urgent repairs with ongoing maintenance projects.

Strong communication and teamwork skills with a positive, guest-service-oriented attitude.

Willingness to jump in where needed and support a collaborative, team-focused work environment.

Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, safe work procedures, and WHMIS requirements.

Physically capable of performing manual labour, heavy lifting, and working in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.

Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.

Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from the mountain
