Position Summary
QRC Logistics is seeking a part-time, on-call basis Dock Stocker and Counterbalance forklift operator who is dependable, safety-conscious, and hardworking to join our Halton Hills warehouse operation.
Reporting to the Warehouse Dock Supervisor, this position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day cross-dock activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Raymond Dock Stocker and Counterbalance forklifts. You will play a key role in unloading, storing, and moving products, ensuring they are safely handled and accurately placed in the right locations. The goal is to support overall warehouse efficiency by effectively managing inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and contributing to a safe and organized work environment.
This is an active, hands-on warehouse position where no two days are exactly alike. We are looking for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in operating equipment safely, and understands the importance of accuracy, productivity, and teamwork in a fast-paced cross-dock environment.
Key Responsibilities
Forklift Operation
Safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move pallets, boxes, and other materials within the warehouse and cross-dock areas. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, stacking, and relocating goods to ensure smooth product flow. Ensuring proper stacking and handling of materials to prevent damage is essential.
Inbound/Outbound Shipments:
Unload incoming shipments from trucks and trailers, ensuring the safe handling of all products. This includes checking shipments against inventory lists for accuracy and promptly notifying the Warehouse Supervisor of any discrepancies. For outbound shipments, load products onto trucks based on the delivery schedules, ensuring that products are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
Cross-Dock Operations:
Work in a high-paced cross-docking environment where products are rapidly transferred from incoming trucks to outgoing trucks. You will ensure the quick and accurate sorting, staging, and movement of goods, minimize unnecessary handling and ensuring the timely departure of shipments. This involves coordinating with other team members to organize products based on their next destination.
Product Placement & Organization:
Accurately store products in their designated storage areas and ensure that the inventory is organized in a manner that allows for easy retrieval. Items should be placed according to FIFO (First In, First Out) or other specified methods to ensure proper rotation. You will be responsible for organizing product stacks and ensuring items are stored securely to prevent accidents.
Inventory Control:
Maintain accurate inventory by ensuring that all products are scanned, tagged, and properly recorded in the warehouse management system (WMS). Assist with regular cycle counts and inventory audits, helping identify any discrepancies or damaged goods. Immediately report any variances in stock levels to your supervisor. Perform daily checks to ensure all incoming and outgoing products are recorded in the system accurately.
Product Inspection:
Before moving products, perform a quality control inspection to check for damages, missing items, or shipping errors. Flag any damaged goods or discrepancies and work with the Warehouse Supervisor to resolve issues. You will ensure that all products are in optimal condition before they are sent out for delivery, reducing the risk of returns or customer complaints.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), forklift safety guidelines, and the safe operation of warehouse equipment. Ensure that all forklift and equipment maintenance schedules are followed, and report any safety hazards or concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor immediately. Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that aisles, exits, and dock areas remain clear of obstructions.
Team Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with your fellow team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Communicate effectively with the Warehouse Supervisor, other forklift operators, and drivers to coordinate the movement of goods in and out of the warehouse. If any issues arise during the loading or unloading process, escalate them to the appropriate supervisor or manager for resolution.
Housekeeping and Organization:
Keep all work areas clean and well-organized throughout your shift, including the loading dock, forklift storage area, and other assigned zones. This includes sweeping floors, clearing away debris, and ensuring that tools and equipment are returned to their proper places. A clean and organized workspace is essential for maintaining productivity and safety.
Ad-hoc Warehouse Duties:
Assist with other warehouse tasks as required, including picking orders, packing products for shipment, preparing materials for delivery, and assisting with other team members’ tasks during peak periods. Help out in other areas of the warehouse as needed to meet operational demands and maintain workflow during busy or high-demand periods.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform basic maintenance on forklifts and other warehouse equipment, such as checking tire pressure, fueling or recharging equipment, and conducting pre-shift safety checks. In the event of equipment failure, notify the supervisor or maintenance team for further action. Keep equipment in good working condition to avoid operational downtime.
Documentation and Reporting:
Complete necessary documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments, including material handling reports, inventory counts, and order tracking forms. Maintain clear and concise records of your daily activities to ensure that operations are accurately documented. Help with maintaining records for shipping and receiving logs and inventory reports.
