Site Superintendent (Contract)
Theodore Builders is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects across Canada on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a self-motivated construction professional with a proven track record managing large-scale grocery, and retail ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 square feet.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a commitment to safety, quality, and schedule performance, and will be comfortable travelling to project sites as required.
Compensation
- $50.00 per hour
- Living Out Allowance (LOA) provided when working away from home
- Travel expenses covered in accordance with company policy
- Long-term project opportunities available for high-performing contractors
Contractor Requirements
- Must operate as an independent contractor
- Valid WCB coverage in applicable province(s)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel and stay on location for project duration
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and quality workmanship
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations from mobilization through project completion
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and site logistics
- Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to Theodore Builders' quality standards
- Maintain project schedules and monitor site productivity
- Enforce all safety requirements and regulatory compliance
- Conduct regular site meetings and communicate project progress to project management
- Maintain daily reports, site documentation, and project records
- Identify and resolve site challenges proactively
- Ensure drawings, specifications, and contract requirements are followed
- Foster positive relationships with clients, consultants, trades, and project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent on commercial construction projects
- Demonstrated experience managing grocery, retail, and commercial projects ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 square feet
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and sequencing
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple trades and maintain project schedules
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and safety regulations
- Proficient with construction reporting and basic computer software
Preferred Certifications
- First Aid
- CSTS
- WHMIS
- Fall Protection
- NCSO designation considered an asset
- Additional safety certifications are welcomed
