Located in the village of Champion, AB, and supporting students from Kindergarten to Grade 9, Champion Community School invites enthusiastic individuals to apply for the permanent, part-time Early Learning Educator (ELE) position available starting August 21, 2026. Champion Community School is renowned for excellence in academic and sports programs, and for programs such as Band and Marine Biology (which takes place every three years). Qualifications:
- Completion of a Level III Early Learning Childhood Education diploma
- Experience in an Inclusive learning environment an asset
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates (Child CPR Certificate is a strong asset)
Responsibilities:
-
Provides a safe and caring environment where children feel secure.
-
Guides children’s behaviour through positive redirection.
-
Implements preschool activities and play centres as planned in consultation with certificated staff.

Meets the Articulation, Language, Literacy, Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional (ALLSPICE) needs of all the children.

Observes children to determine if extra assistance is needed.

Participates with the parents, consulting teacher and Early Intervention Specialist in developing individual program plans to meet individual children’s learning needs. This often involves modification in program delivery, materials and method of evaluation.

Directs the activities of the preschool Student Services assistants, in cooperation with the consulting teacher and/or Early Intervention Specialist.

Informs the Student Services assistants of preschool rules, behaviour and conduct expected in the preschool.

Liaises with the home in a variety of ways, e.g., providing monthly newsletters to inform parents of information related to the preschool program.

Keeps current with professional development by attending workshops, seminars and conferences.
- Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students.
- Maintains confidentiality, and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
- Maintains collegial relationships with the student’s learning team.
- Works with students in a variety of settings in the school and community, including assisting in the supervision of students at breaks or on field trips as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
