Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Ice Technician to join our team. This role involves supporting the ice installation, preparation for games, and other ice maintenance activities. In addition, we may be looking for support with some of our other curling activities (support with school groups and events). The ideal candidate will have experience with curling ice maintenance, but it is not necessary - we are willing to train you.
Responsibilities
- Assist with ice installation, floods, and weekly ice maintenance
- Prepare ice for games (scrape, pebble, nip) with a teammate
- Assist with the installation, inspection, and routine maintenance of ice-making machinery and related equipment
- Support troubleshooting of our ice equipment as needed
- Keep the ice area clean and tidy (vacuum, garbage, etc)
- Potential to support other curling activities if interested (support lessons to school groups, help with events)
Requirements
- Experience with an ice crew an asset, but not required
- Reliable and detail oriented
- Comfortable working in a cold environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues
- Ability to work safely in an industrial environment while adhering to safety protocols
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods
Schedule (some flexibility)
- Ideal candidate would be available to start in early September and work until mid-April
- Weekly schedule would generally be consistent with potential for morning, afternoon and/or evening shifts
- Would be some weekend shifts (particularly during events)
Hiring Timeline

- Target is to select a candidate by early August
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
