We are accepting applications for 2 permanent full-time Child & Family Educator positions in our organization.
Position: Child & Family Educator
2 Full time permanent positions

Salary range: $27.21-$30.25
Position Responsibilities
Child and Family Educators offer programs and services to pregnant people and families with children under the age of seven including indoor and outdoor parent-child interaction programs, parenting workshops, licensed childcare, and registered weekly programs for families in challenging circumstances.
Core Responsibilities
- Delivers programs and services in a range of formats to support the needs and learning styles of families/caregivers and children.
- Establishes authentic, predictable, and responsive relationships with parents/caregivers, children and community members.
- Intentionally creates environments to support engagement, learning and development, and connection.
- Collaborates in multi-disciplinary teams to offer holistic family support programs and services.
- Understands and effectively communicates the key messages of the organization, based on current research and best practices in early learning and family support.
- Implements practices and strategies to create welcoming, accessible, and inclusive spaces for children and families of all backgrounds, identities, histories, and needs.
- Engages with community partners, including funders, aligned organizations and volunteers to enhance service delivery and address a wide range of family/caregiver and children’s needs.
- Acts as an ambassador for the organization in the larger community.
- Engages in ongoing professional learning and reflective practices to foster a culture of growth and development.
Working Conditions
- Programs and services are offered Monday-Saturday, including evenings.
- Staff are required to work in sites across the County and City of Peterborough.
- Programs occur indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Programs involve frequent exposure to loud noise.
Physical Requirements
- Work requires sustained periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching or otherwise moving through indoor and outdoor spaces in various weather conditions.
- Light to medium lifting required (20-50lbs).
- Quickly move or respond in emergency situations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree or diploma in a Human Services discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a human services field
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
- Current Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Up to date immunization record, including Covid-19 vaccination
- Member in good standing with Ontario Regulatory College if applicable
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of infant/child development and parenting.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and working with families/caregivers
- Comprehensive theory-based knowledge of families facing challenging life circumstances
- Comprehensive understanding of current early years and family support research, and best practices
PCFC requires all staff to submit the following prior to or on the first day of employment:
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Current Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Documentation of compliance with PCFC’s Immunization Policy
