Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Italian-speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team as an On-Call Independent Contractor. This role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring assistance with daily activities. As a PSW, you will provide personalized care to clients in their homes or care facilities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster independence and dignity for those you support.
Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide patient care by monitoring health status, administering medications as prescribed, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals
- Support clients with meal preparation, and hydration needs to promote proper nutrition
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, and maintaining a safe environment
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ mental well-being
- Assist with mobility exercises and heavy lifting when necessary to ensure safety during transfers or repositioning
- Follow care plans meticulously and document all care provided accurately in client records
Experience
- Previous assisted living or nursing home experience is highly preferred
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia care is advantageous
- Background in senior care, hospice care, or home care settings is desirable
- Familiarity with medication administration and basic nursing tasks is beneficial
- Experience performing caregiving duties that involve light cleaning, meal preparation and mobility support.
- Strong communication skills in Italian are essential; ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members in both Italian and English is required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while adhering to safety protocols and care standards
