Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Technician to join our team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in accounting while gaining hands-on experience in financial reporting, tax preparation and client support. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and customer service skills. This role requires extensive contact with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and reports
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Support bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Assist with payroll processing and related filings
- Prepare and organize data for tax filings
- Data entry for tax filings
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting team
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in accounting (an asset)
- Familiarity with Canadian Personal Income Tax (an asset)
