Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Kitchen Expeditor to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen staff and front-of-house service, maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. The Kitchen Expeditor is responsible for coordinating orders, ensuring timely delivery of dishes, and supporting the overall efficiency of the kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
- Act as the communication link between kitchen staff and servers to facilitate accurate and timely order delivery
- Verify that dishes leaving the kitchen meet quality standards in presentation, temperature, and portion size
- Organize and prioritize orders to ensure efficient workflow during busy service periods
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including plating and garnishing
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the expediting station and surrounding areas
- Monitor food safety practices and proper handling procedures throughout service
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to manage special dietary requests or modifications
- Support in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment by adhering to sanitation standards
- Operate POS systems such as Micros POS for order tracking when necessary
- Communicate effectively with team members to resolve any issues promptly
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or hospitality environments preferred
- Familiarity with food handling, safety protocols, and sanitation standards is highly desirable
- Experience working with POS systems such as Square or similar platforms is a plus
- Background in customer service or guest relations enhances ability to support team needs effectively
- Experience in meal preparation, serving, cashiering, or barista roles can be beneficial
- Strong communication skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure are essential
- Prior hotel or catering experience is advantageous but not required
