Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team at Bridgeview Dental in Mission BC. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a comfortable experience for our patients. This position involves working closely with dentists to deliver high-quality dental services, while maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with infection control protocols. MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE BCCOHP.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings and examinations, including scaling and polishing teeth
- Assess patient oral health through comprehensive evaluations and documentation
- Take and interpret medical imaging, including X-rays, to assist in diagnosis
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with chairside procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques
- Monitor vital signs and provide appropriate patient assessments during appointments
- Implement aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met
- Collaborate with the dental team to develop individualized patient care plans
- Stay current with dental terminology, medical coding, and EMR systems for efficient practice management
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred
- Familiarity with Dentrix software is highly desirable
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus
- Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control protocols
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while ensuring patient comfort
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients on their oral health needs
- Strong attention to detail for documentation review and patient assessment tasks
