Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure Services & Support, the Technical Engineer provides technical support for IT Corporate Systems, Applications and network infrastructure. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Support of corporate systems such as Active Directory, MS Entra ID / Azure, shared folders, system backups, server build and management in a VMWare environment.
- Support of applications used by City departments for service delivery including user and role based access management.
- Acts as Local Registration Agents (LRA) for the provincial Social Assistance Management System (SAMS) users, setting up and assigning security rights and managing PKI certificates.
- Installation and technical support of network infrastructure including cabling, data closets, data center infrastructure and switches.
- Works with Service Providers (WAN & ISP) to install, maintain and support infrastructure to the internet and remote locations.
- Provide third level support for incidents and problems escalated from the IT Service Desk and Desktop Support teams.
- Evaluation of technologies to support lifecycle management and procurement requests.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed a two (2) year community college or University program in Computer Science, Computer Studies or a related field.
- A minimum of five (3) years of related work experience in a medium to large organization.
- Experience with management of Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, VMWare and Network infrastructure in a medium to large organization.
- Proficient in the creation of system built/change and technical documentation and diagrams, technical educational materials and process documentation.
- Excellent customer service and presentation skills are required.
- Responsible for responsible management of sensitive and confidential data in accordance with City of Brantford policies and standards.
- Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications an asset.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Organization skills are required to work within tight timeframes and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A valid Driver's Licence in good standing and access to a vehicle is require.

Pay: $45.90-$57.37 per hour
