Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play a key role in helping our clients understand their numbers and make confident decisions. You’ll work across full-cycle accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation building practical experience while developing your CPA path with the support of our team.
Job Type:
Full-time, Permanent
Schedule:
- 40 hour work week (overtime when required)
- Monday to Friday
- In-office role in Edmonton (this is not a virtual position)
Experience
Education:
- Related post-secondary diploma or degree
- CPA student (enrolled or planning to enroll) we support your growth
Experience: 3+ years in full-cycle accounting is an asset; we’re happy to train the right candidate
Tech comfort: experience with tools such as Caseware, TaxCycle, Sage, QuickBooks/QBO, Xero, and similar platforms
Job Duties:
- Support a portfolio of clients with day-to-day bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flows) and help tell the story behind the numbers
- Compile working papers and compilation engagement files with strong attention to detail
- Contribute to assurance engagements (reviews and audits) and learn best practices from experienced mentors
- Prepare personal and corporate tax returns (T1 and T2) and support tax planning needs
- Prepare T4 and T5 slips and assist with year-end filings
- Assist with payroll preparation and submissions
- Provide administrative and project support to partners and senior management as needed
- Collaborate closely with partners and the team. We work best when we work together

- Analytical and curious, you enjoy solving problems and learning new concepts
- Able to manage priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- You look for ways to improve and grow, you are driven and proactive.
