We are recruiting for a growing manufacturing organization in the Waterloo area is seeking an organized and solutions-focused Supply Chain & Inventory Coordinator to support purchasing, inventory control, and production planning activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring materials are available to support production while maintaining accurate inventory records and building strong supplier relationships.
The successful candidate will work closely with production, operations, and management to coordinate purchasing activities, monitor inventory levels, and support efficient manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, components, and production supplies.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers while negotiating pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Create and manage purchase orders, following up to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend replenishment to support production requirements.
- Work alongside production to align purchasing with manufacturing schedules.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and inventory data.
- Assist with production planning by creating and tracking manufacturing work orders.
- Ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs) remain accurate and up to date.
- Support ongoing improvements to purchasing processes, inventory management, and material planning.
- Participate in cycle counts and annual physical inventory activities.
- Assist with the administration and continuous improvement of the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Complete additional duties as required to support operations
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in purchasing, materials coordination, inventory control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems; familiarity with SAP or similar platforms is beneficial.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of procurement practices, inventory management, and production planning.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proven negotiation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional departments.
