Job Overview
RadioWorks Communications Inc. is seeking a driven, technically capable Sales Account Manager to support the growth of our business, including radio, IT, and related technologies.
This is not a transactional sales role. We are looking for a strategic, self-motivated individual who can identify and pursue new business opportunities, engage with customers at a technical level, and develop solutions that balance performance, cost, and real-world project constraints.
The ideal candidate has a “farmer” mindset, is technically curious and capable, very organized, and capable of comprehending highly complex systems. Reputation and relationships is everything to this person, backed by sound judgement, intelligence, technical aptitude, and the ability to earn and demonstrate trust in long term relationships, ultimately striving to deliver the right solution to the end user.
The Opportunity
This is a new and intentionally flexible position supporting radio fleet coordination and both major and minor account relationships. The role works very closely with others, sharing accounts and duties with two to three other sales account managers, as well as working closely with the sales manager, the operations manager, and the technical services manager.
The day to day job includes technical sales for radios, vehicle upfitting, and IT, as well as radio rentals and other related sales administration. The duties may bring inside or outside sales related work, depending on workflow to be determined based on current demand. The starting scope will reflect the successful candidate’s skills and experience, with room to grow as capability is demonstrated.
RadioWorks is a small, locally owned company where everyone has primary responsibilities, but nobody succeeds by staying narrowly inside a job description. We work as a team, support one another during busy periods, and step into whatever needs attention for the benefit of the customer and the company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Customer Engagement
- Engage directly with customers from operations staff to C-level staff, to understand solution requirements
- Learn each customer’s operations, equipment, radio fleet structure, service history, priorities, and future plans.
- Position RadioWorks as a trusted technical partner rather than a price-based vendor
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, and relationship development
- Develop budgetary and formal pricing based on system scope, materials, labour, and project conditions
- Support pricing discussions with confidence, focusing on value, risk, and project outcomes
- Guide customers through scope decisions, trade-offs, and cost considerations
Technical Sales
- Manage inquiries from initial conversation through quotation, ordering, delivery, follow-up, and lifecycle support.
- Coordinate complex customer fleets involving many radios, locations, users, configurations, repairs, additions, and replacements.
- Develop working knowledge of analog and digital radio, DMR and P25, repeaters, dispatch, IP-connected systems, codeplugs, channels, talkgroups, tones, colour codes, time slots, and fleet mapping.
- Develop working knowledge of vehicle upfitting solutions, including emergency lighting, sirens, control systems, mobile radios, antennas, data terminals, cameras, consoles, prisoner transport equipment, and related hardware.
- Collaborate with technicians, suppliers, and subject-matter experts where system design, labour, installation, programming, networking, or other technical input is required.
- Present and explain technical solutions in a clear and practical way
Project Coordination & Support
- Maintain continuity from start to finish, from sales to delivery to invoicing
- Coordinate with internal team members and customers, including project coordination and management as needed to support excellent completion of the sale
Radio Rental Fleet Management
- Develop knowledge of rental fleet and customers, and support overlapping short- and long-term rentals within a fleet of approximately 400 radios, including quotations, reservations, preparation, pickup, return, and customer communication.
Other
- Respond to phone, email, counter, and website inquiries; prepare quotes, accept purchase orders, enter sales orders, coordinate procurement, and follow up on open matters.
- Support service intake by documenting reported issues and gathering information for technical triage.
- Participate in supplier training, product research, process improvement, documentation, inventory coordination, and general office support.
- Support coworkers during busy periods, absences, vacations, deadlines, or customer emergencies; take ownership and follow matters through to completion.
Experience & Growth
Previous two-way radio experience is valuable, but not required. Relevant backgrounds may include telecommunications, networking, IT, electronics, technical customer support, project coordination, emergency services, fleet operations, vehicle upfitting, service administration, or technical account management.
Responsibilities, title, and compensation will be aligned with the successful candidate’s demonstrated skills and experience. Growth will be based on capability, results, customer trust, technical development, and the needs of the business.
