Come join our team at this exciting time and apply for the Supervisor, Revenue Collection position! This temporary opportunity is available for up to 12 months.
Reporting to the Manager, Administration, Controls and Operations this position is responsible for directing and overseeing the collection, transportation and safekeeping of uncounted receipts (cash, tokens and tickets) from Divisional and Rapid Transit locations to the Revenue Operations Department facility. This position directly plans, supervises and co-ordinates the work of unionized employees engaged in related activities; performs various administrative tasks; prepares a variety of reports; and ensures efficient nightly operations at the Revenue Operations facility.
The position supervises and oversees the nightly collection of cash and fare media from all sources. This includes:
- Establishing goals for the Revenue Collection section, providing employees with routine instructions and resolving day-to-day problems
- Planning, supervising and co-ordinating the work of unionized employees including investigating work problems, motivating employees, ensuring proper training of subordinates, providing guidance in the resolution of work problems, evaluating employee performance and administering discipline;
- Conducting surveillance of employees in their work and ensuring joint custody and multiple access control over uncounted and unsecured receipts
- Overseeing the control of all revenue access and security keys (e.g. keys for farebox vaults, armoured vehicles, alarms, facilities, etc.)
- Reviewing and monitoring the effectiveness of operational, security and control procedures/practices on an ongoing basis and implementing changes where appropriate to correct problem areas and increase efficiency
- Liaising with the Manager, Administration, Controls and Operations concerning operational/administrative problems and matters involving potential threats to the secure transport of Commission funds and developing new and/or revised procedures to resolve such problems
- Supervising and overseeing the collection and transportation by armoured trucks of cash, tokens and tickets from Divisions and Rapid Transit locations to the Revenue Operations Department facility
- Ensuring all special requests are carried out for the preparation of special revenue collections on a quarterly basis for the establishment of statistical data

- Demonstrate specialized expertise and knowledge in the assigned field
- Your educational background including completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
- Extensive directly related supervisory work experience in an unionized environment.
- You must posses a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license in good standing and be able to upgrade to a “DZ” License.
- Knowledge of applicable government legislation and standards, Working knowledge of relevant security and control application, related security equipment, CCTV equipment access controls and armed-robbery prevention techniques.
- Must successfully pass a full Canadian Criminal Records (CPIC) Search, a Financial History Credit Check and a security background check (to the satisfaction of the Management)
- Must be bondable and remain that way through the term of employment in this position.
Will be subject to periodic security and financial history clearance checks (internal & external) as an on-going condition of employment within the Revenue Operations Department.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety act and its regulations
- Possess sound judgement, well-developed organizational, supervisory, administrative and interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to motivate, assess, counsel and co-ordinate activities of others to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to effectively plan, supervise and co-ordinate the work of employees to ensure schedules are met and quality/quantity standards are maintained.
- Ability to handle changing priorities in a positive manner and must be able to ensure that all operating and administrative problems are resolved with minimal interruption to the work of the section.
