About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established General Contractor specializing in Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) construction projects throughout the GTA. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an Estimator to their team in Vaughan.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys working on a variety of ground-up and renovation projects and is looking to join a collaborative and growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare tender packages and coordinate bid submissions.
- Analyze project risks, opportunities, and cost drivers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
- Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project handovers.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing databases, and bid documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, value engineering, and cost analysis activities.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of estimating experience within the ICI construction industry.
- Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, educational, municipal, or public-sector projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and tendering processes.
- Experience in preparing quantity take-offs and detailed estimates across multiple trades.
- Ability to evaluate subcontractor pricing and negotiate competitive bids.
- Proficiency with estimating and construction software such as Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
