Painter and Decorator
Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter and Decorator to join our residential and commercial construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints, stains, wallpaper and protective finishes, and completing high-quality interior and exterior painting work in accordance with project specifications and company quality standards.Duties
- Prepare, clean, scrape, sand, patch, caulk and prime surfaces before painting.
- Repair cracks, holes and drywall imperfections.
- Waterproof, damp-proof and restore surfaces as required in accordance with project specifications.
- Read blueprints, drawings and work specifications.
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, enamels, wallpaper and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
- Mix paints and finishing materials to achieve required colours and finishes.
- Protect adjacent surfaces from paint and overspray.
- Assemble and safely use ladders, scaffolding and swing stages.
- Maintain painting tools and equipment.
- Estimate paint and material quantities.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety procedures and company policies.
- Deliver high-quality workmanship while providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of painting and decorating experience.
- Experience with residential or commercial painting.
- Experience using brushes, rollers and airless spray equipment.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, primers, sealers and protective coatings.
- Ability to read blueprints and work specifications.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- WHMIS and Working at Heights training are considered assets.
- Experience with industrial or protective coating systems is considered an asset
Pay: $26.70-$34.00 per hour
