Position Summary
Shepherd’s Hardware is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing & Advertising Assistant to support our advertising and digital marketing efforts. Based out of our main store in Armstrong, BC, this role works from our Advertising Office and plays a key part in promoting our products, services, events, and brand across multiple platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys fast-paced retail marketing, creative content development, and helping shape the voice of a trusted local business.
What You’ll Do
The Marketing & Advertising Assistant supports the planning, creation, and execution of advertising campaigns that promote Shepherd’s Hardware products, services, promotions, and events.
Responsibilities include:
Creating engaging marketing content for:
Social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Website and digital advertising
Radio ads (voicing optional)
In-store TV ads
Email campaigns
Print advertising and promotional materials
Designing and preparing:
Posters
Flyers
Digital ads
Statement inserts
Invoice backers
Business cards
Email signatures
Supporting campaigns for:
Sales events
New service launches
Community initiatives
Shepherd’s 100 Year Celebration
Assisting with advertising for key departments and audiences including:
Building Materials
Outdoor Living
Pro Clean
Design Centre
Hardscape
Shipping Department
Retail, contractor, and commercial customers
Working closely with management and department teams to:
Gather product information
Ensure pricing accuracy
Meet deadlines
Maintain brand consistency
Tracking campaign performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
Monitoring competitor advertising to help keep Shepherd’s messaging fresh and competitive
Organizing and maintaining advertising materials and tools such as:
Cloth banners
Reusable signs
Contest entry boxes
Ink stamps
Promotional supplies
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, organized, and able to balance multiple projects in a busy retail environment. They must be able to receive input from multiple departments and work alongside the Advertising Manager to determine the best direction for Shepherd’s overall brand and messaging.
Qualifications
Experience with digital marketing platforms and tools such as:
Google Analytics
Google Ads
Facebook Advertising
Strong understanding of:
Social media marketing
SEO
Email marketing
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong research and analytical abilities
Knowledge of HTML is an asset, but not required
Previous experience in retail, hardware, or home improvement industries is preferred
