Summary of Role
Must be able to work on Saturday & Sunday and open to the odd weekday shift.
The Room Attendant is one of the most important jobs in the hotel business. They are responsible for cleaning guest-rooms and processing laundry all critical to the successful operation of the hotel. The Room Attendant job is very physically demanding and requires moderate to high levels of physical exertion for an entire shift (up to 8 hours per day). While completing this physically demanding job, they are also responsible for greeting guests in a hospitable, caring way at all times.
Responsibilities
- All laundry functions
- Operating machines properly including loading to proper levels and using approved cycles and products
- Separating, loading, transferring, removing from machines, folding laundry and stocking shelves
All aspects of guest-room cleaning, in the order/method instructed, including:
- Removing garbage and soiled linen/terry
- Using chemicals for cleaning with properly protection/safety measures
- Wiping/scrubbing hard surfaces
- Vacuuming
- Sweeping/mopping
- Polishing metal
- Ensuring supplies are all stocked properly
- Ensuring all appliances and lighting are working properly
- Reporting any issues with the guest-room, as directed, to your supervisor or management
Maintaining standards for the amount of time to clean a guest-room including:
- 5 minutes per stayover room with limited service
- 15 minutes stayover rooms with full service
- 30 minutes per room for check-outs
- Consulting with your supervisor immediately upon recognizing that a room may take longer than 30 minutes to clean
Other duties and expectations include, but aren't limited to:
- Returning to guest-rooms to fix any issues as directed by the supervisor or management
- Greeting all guests in a hospitable, caring manner
- Preparing housekeeping cart with supplies as required
- Putting away cart and supplies as required
- Wearing housekeeping uniform including name tag at all times
- Training new room attendants as may be required from time to time
- Understand and ensure compliance of all Health and Safety procedures, regulations and laws such as labels on cleaning products, correct ergonomics and ensuring protective equipment is worn when necessary
- Ensure communication and compliance of Housekeeping’s responsibilities in the event of an emergency situation as outlined in the Emergency Response Booklet to ensure guest and employee safety
Education, Experience and Skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work 8-hours per day doing moderate to high level pf physical exertion work

- Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, standing, reaching, pulling, pushing and lifting up to 50 lbs. for long periods of time (8 work hours per day)
- May be required to stand on small stepladder to reach high places
- Must be available to work Fridays and weekends
- Overtime as required
Pay: From $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 32.0 per week
