Position Overview
Sun Glow is seeking a reliable and skilled Window Shade Installer to install residential and commercial window-covering products throughout Toronto and the surrounding area. The installer will be responsible for completing accurate, professional installations while providing excellent customer service and representing Sun Glow positively on every job site.
Key Responsibilities
- Install roller shades, cellular shades, zebra/vision shades, motorized shades, vertical sheers, panel tracks, and other window-covering products.
- Review work orders, drawings, measurements, and installation instructions before beginning each job.
- Confirm that products, hardware, brackets, remotes, chargers, and accessories are complete and correct.
- Perform check measurements and identify potential installation issues when required.
- Install shades securely, level, and in accordance with company standards and applicable safety requirements.
- Program and test motorized shades, remotes, switches, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot installation, product, and basic motorization issues on site.
- Protect customers’ floors, furniture, walls, and surrounding areas during installation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and remove installation-related packaging and debris.
- Explain product operation, care, and maintenance to customers.
- Document deficiencies, damages, measurement issues, and required service work with clear notes and photographs.
- Obtain customer or site representative sign-off after completing installations.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, designers, project managers, and internal departments.
- Maintain installation tools, equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.
- Follow company procedures and all applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with service calls, repairs, adjustments, and product replacements as required.
Qualifications
- Previous window-covering installation experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in construction, millwork, cabinetry, glazing, or a related trade may be considered.
- Comfortable using drills, levels, measuring tools, ladders, and common hand and power tools.
- Able to read work orders, measurements, floor plans, and basic installation drawings.
- Strong mechanical ability and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with motorized products and learning new control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple appointments efficiently.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry products weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Able to work safely from ladders and at elevated heights.
- Able to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and carry materials for extended periods.
- Comfortable travelling between residential and commercial job sites.
- Comfortable working in occupied homes, construction sites, and commercial facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience installing large or specialty shades.
- Experience programming Somfy, Jiecang, Dooya, or similar motorization systems.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience completing check measures.
- Working at Heights certification or other relevant safety training.
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
