As an integral member of the People & Culture team, the People & Culture Coordinator supports the organization through the administration of onboarding, benefits, HRIS and data management, and recruitment activities. The Coordinator supports People & Culture best practices and creates exceptional employee experiences through the impact of their work, acting as the front-line support for P&C enquiries. This role also contributes to various People & Culture initiatives related to Employee Relations, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement and Recognition, and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
People & Culture Administration:

Engage with employees and leaders to ensure relevant and timely delivery of transactional People & Culture support (hires, offboarding, job changes)

Respond to and/or escalate internal and external People & Culture related inquiries as needed Coordinate employee onboarding / pre-hire activities to ensure an excellent employee onboarding experience

Support the employee onboarding process ensuring appropriate paperwork is completed and that all employee tools are available on the first day

Administer and track People & Culture operational activities (i.e. HRIS entry and data management, employee statistics)

Assist with employee benefits administration (enrollments, employee changes, invoice coding etc.)

In partnership with the Talent Acquisition team, provide administrative support including publishing job postings, and coding invoices

Coordinate and prepare metrics reporting for P&C Develop strong expertise for employee self-serve activities in the HRIS. This includes training materials, coaching and support, troubleshooting, auditing and identifying opportunities to enhance the functionality of the system

Administer the Service Recognition Program (when in place)

Administer the employee referral program Provide content for internal communications (new faces, departures, “Hot Jobs”, program reminders etc.)

Assist in salary benchmarking and job description updates as required.
Learning & Development:-
Support the delivery of effective learning & development programs through enrolling and tracking participation in internal and external offerings

Assist in the administration of the Norland Learning Portal, such as account management, course enrollment, reporting etc.

Assist with credential management

Coordinate the Granted program for L&D activities
Program Maintenance:-
Maintain confidential People & Culture records and files

Assist with managing and updating of People & Culture templates, letter templates, job descriptions, etc.

Assemble data for pay transparency reporting if requested

Assist with the management of the Norland vehicle policy

Assist with the administration and maintenance of People & Culture programs

Assist with roll-out and training for new People & Culture initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent
-
1+ years previous experience in HR /People & Culture or recruitment
-
Experience in a construction environment particularly with unions or working in similar setting with hourly/field workers is a strong asset.

Knowledge of HR / People & Culture & recruitment processes, regulation, legislation, and best practices

Highly organized, detail oriented, with advanced Microsoft office and calendar management experience

Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders at the same time
- Ability to handle data and confidential information

Excellent judgement, discretion and sensitivity, combined with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with individuals both inside and outside the company
- Ability to work independently in an environment with multiple conflicting priorities, where you may have to switch gears at a moment’s notice

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's licence is an asset
Compensation:
The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $51,800 - $64,800 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role. Norland offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary, extended health and dental plans with premiums full paid by the company, as well as paid time off and RRSP matching.
