Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Truck Driver - Class 1 to join our transportation team! Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over long and short distances, following all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and placement of cargo
- Verify freight documentation, including bills of lading and delivery receipts, for accuracy before dispatching or upon delivery
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery records in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to ensure vehicle readiness at all times
Experience
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with heavy-duty trucks or long-haul routes
- Familiarity with forklift operation for loading/unloading freight safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards for heavy equipment operation
- Basic understanding of automotive repair techniques to address minor mechanical issues promptly
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere strictly to safety protocols in all aspects of the job
