We are currently seeking an Apprentice Crane Service Technician to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Service Manager and working along the side of a licensed Electrician, as an Apprentice Crane Service Technician, you will be responsible for traveling to our customer sites all across the maritime provinces and performing a variety of duties such as inspecting, repair service, and preventative maintenance on equipment, including overhead cranes and hoists. Both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting will be performed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in resolving emergency breakdown situations
- Alongside the journeyman, troubleshoot and Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Assist in determining extent of repair required
- Ensure O’Brien’s and customers safety policies and procedures are being followed at all times
- Alongside journeyman, adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
- Assist in testing repaired equipment for proper performance
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
- Complete inspection reports and daily timesheets accurately and completely
- Maintain work area including equipment and tools including inventory
- Provide excellent customer service
- Other duties as required

- Extensive travel required
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in Electrical Apprenticeship Program with a recognized post-secondary institution
- Secondary school diploma is a minimum
- Manufacturing or Overhead Crane experience is an asset
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must own steel toed safety boots and basic tools
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working indoor and outdoor and outdoor environment
- May be required to work at heights
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
