Position Overview: The Junior Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and successful execution of countertop fabrication and installation projects from order release through final completion. Working under the guidance of Senior Project Managers, this role helps ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and to Sloan Stone Design's high standards of quality and customer service.
The Junior Project Coordinator serves as a key liaison between customers, builders, suppliers, and internal departments while developing the skills necessary to manage increasingly complex projects independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
- Assist in managing countertop installation projects from template through final installation.
- Coordinate project activities between Sales, Technical Services, Production, Purchasing, and Installation.
- Verify that all project information, specifications, drawings, and measurements are complete and accurate prior to production.
- Ensure all materials, sinks, accessories, and required resources are available before fabrication and installation.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential scheduling conflicts or delay
Customer & Builder Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners, builders, contractors, and designers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide timely project updates and scheduling information.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries and concerns.
- Build strong customer relationships through excellent communication and service.
Scheduling & Planning
- Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules.
- Coordinate template appointments, fabrication timelines, deliveries, and installation dates.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Help prioritize projects based on customer needs, production capacity, and installation schedules.
Quality Assurance
- Review completed project documentation and installation photos to verify company quality standards have been met.
- Coordinate service work, deficiencies, or warranty items when required.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency.
- Ensure company procedures and safety standards are followed throughout each project
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate project files within company software.
- Process and document change orders, purchase orders, and project revisions.
- Track project milestones and maintain organized electronic records.
- Assist with project reporting, job close-out documentation, and warranty records.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Technical Services, Production, Purchasing, and Installation teams.
- Participate in project review meetings and planning discussions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and departmental process development.
- Assist Senior Project Managers with larger commercial and residential projects as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or University Degree in Construction Management, Project Management or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in project coordination, construction, manufacturing, customer service, or administrative support is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, project management software, or ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of countertop fabrication, construction, or cabinetry is an asset but not required.
